Welcome to Fossil Trace

Pump Station & Irrigation Project
Why We are Doing This
This project is a reinvestment in the golf experience. The pump station and irrigation infrastructure are fundamental to reliable conditioning, healthy playing surfaces, and long-term system performance. In Colorado’s semi-arid climate, improvements to pumping, control, and distribution also support responsible water use by helping apply water more precisely and reducing waste.
What This Means for Play
We have scheduled this project to progress one hole at a time, and all 18 holes are expected to remain open each day. The following adjustments are limited in scope and may change day-to-day based on progress and weather:
- Shortened yardage using forward tees or temporary teeing areas
- Minor reroutes around active work zones
- Ground Under Repair areas with clearly marked relief
- Occasional cart restrictions or directional guidance near active work
Project Timeline
Dates: June, 2026 – May, 2027
Work Schedule: Primarily weekdays during daylight hours (with occasional early-morning activity)
Current updates will be posted here at fossiltrace.com. If you have questions about an upcoming reservation, please contact the Golf Shop at golf@cityofgolden.net.
Know Before You Go
Rental Clubs
We are proud to offer premium TaylorMade rental sets for women, men, left-handed, and right-handed golfers. You don’t need to reserve rental clubs, we have plenty available. However, guests are welcome to call the Golf Shop at 303.277.8750 in advance of the reservation to request the needed sets of rentals.
Club Storage
We accept deliveries from Ship Sticks and will store your clubs for a day or two before and after your round in the Golf Shop. You are responsible for all coordination with Ship Sticks and packaging/labeling your clubs for shipment.
Spectators are welcome at Fossil Trace; however, golf carts are prioritized for players. There is a maximum of 3 total carts allowed on the course per tee time. While there is not an age minimum requirement for spectators, we do not recommend bringing non-golfing juniors, as they are required to remain in the cart for everyone’s safety and enjoyment of their round.
If riding along in a golf cart, the cost is $50 for 18 holes, $25 for 9 holes – subject to availability. If you are booking a tee time, do not include the non-playing rider as part of your reservation.
Fossil Trace does not have a locker room or personal storage units. However, we strive to make accommodations for our traveling guests whenever possible. If you have come directly from the airport or are headed there immediately after your round – please call the Golf Shop at 303.277.8750 so we can arrange a place for you to store your luggage.
Fossil Trace Golf Club is not responsible for stolen or lost items.
While visiting Fossil Trace, we encourage you to reside at a neighboring hotel:
One-of-a-Kind Stays
Local Franchises
Fossil Trace is just 20 minutes west of Downtown Denver, and 40 minutes from Denver International Airport. When planning transportation, we recommend the following:
- If coming directly from the airport, make sure your tee time is no sooner than 3 hours from when your flight lands. This accounts for baggage claim, driving, and warm-up time. Add 1 more hour if you plan to rent a car at the airport.
- Check your map app before heading to the course. Accidents and traffic jams are regular in Denver, make sure you have a back-up route here.
- Include playing at courses like Bear Dance, Arrowhead, and TPC Colorado for the ultimate Front Range golf tip.
Restaurant & Bar
Footprints at Fossil Trace is open year round to the general public and golfers. The restaurant also hosts wedding, meetings, and events.
If you have a group of 16 or more and plan to visit the restaurant after your round, or for a special get together, you must make a dining reservation in advance. Footprints at Fossil Trace does not guarantee group seating without prior notice. To read more, visit the Food & Drink page. To make a reservation for dining, call 303.277.8755 or online at OpenTable.
On-Course Services
Outside coolers are not allowed on the golf course, restaurant, or anywhere on Fossil Trace property. Footprints can provide a complimentary beverage cooler and fill it with drinks purchased at the bar or from the beverage cart.
During Peak Season there are 1-2 beverage carts on the course. During Early, Late, and Winter Season beverage carts are out depending on golf course traffic. Holes 9 and 18 also finish by the club house if you would like to grab something at the turn.
