Private Lessons

Nick Borgeson is the Lead Assistant Golf Professional in Player Development.  A fifth-generation Colorado native, Nick learned the game of golf playing with his grandparents, uncles, numerous aunts, mother, father, sister, brother, and anyone that would play with him.

Nick’s demeanor both on and off the course are always positive, humorous, and relaxed. If you encounter Nick, however briefly, you will likely walk away with a smile. It’s a quality his father instilled in him at a very young age. Nick has a passion for the game and is happy to share his knowledge of the skills required to have an enjoyable experience as they relate to the game, the rules, the clubs, and etiquette.

As the Director of Clubfitting, Nick is a certified fitter in six club companies and three shaft companies. He also led the development of an indoor fitting area utilizing a mobile CG-Quad launch monitor.

Matt Metzger, PGA is an Assistant Golf Professional in Player Development. He joined the team in September 2020.

Growing up in Buffalo, New York, his dad and grandpa taught him to play golf at a very young age. He graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2015 with his Class A PGA Membership. During his time at Coastal, he completed one of his internships at Boulder Country Club, and he more recently spent the past five seasons at Promontory Golf Club in Park City, Utah. Working at Promontory ignited his passion for teaching, especially juniors. He has experience with clinics for all golfers – men, women, juniors, and numerous Get Golf Ready programs. His favorite program at Promontory was the Wounded Warriors (specifically the Semper Fi Fund), a 3-day clinic that combined practice range and on-course learning for those who served our country.

He spends his free time being outside – golfing, hiking, tennis, and soccer. Winter skiing is also a passion of Matt’s, and he was formerly a ski instructor at Park City Mountain during the snow season.

Katie is the Lead Assistant Golf Professional in Operations and Events. She worked at a high-volume golf course in North Dakota for 10 years before coming to Fossil Trace in 2018 and has extensive experience in creating a high-quality golf experience.

As a former DI college athlete, Katie possesses a strong knowledge of physical fitness, its application to golf, and the importance of technique in all sports. She was the second woman in North Dakota history to attain her Class A PGA Membership (the first being her mentor). Her dedication to growing the game for beginners and individuals with special needs resulted in the Dakota Chapter 2016 Assistant of the Year award.

Her favorite activities are mountain biking, skiing, and hiking – all with her wife and kids.

Chris is an Assistant Golf Professional in Golf Operations.  He worked as the Lead Assistant Professional at a high-volume public golf course, The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn, Nebraska for 4 seasons before joining the Fossil Trace team in the spring of 2025.

Chris has a passion for junior golf.  He sharpened his teaching skills at “The Creek” under the tutelage of the Director of Golf, James Rolls, PGA, and the Head Professional, Kyle Bullerman, PGA.  They developed and instructed junior camps, an on-course junior program, Girls Golf of Omaha on Thursday nights and private lessons.  In Colorado, he partners with an after-school curriculum-based program, Golf Squad, providing elementary school-aged children with professional golf education for enrichment and character growth.  At Fossil Trace, he’s an instructor for Lil’ Tykes camps, junior half day camps, PGA Junior League, Operation36 and private lessons.

His favorite activities are golfing with his friends and family, hiking and kayaking with his wife, Caitlyn, collecting vinyl records, cooking, and getting lost in a movie or a basketball game on the couch with his cat, Percy.
