Discover Colorado’s Fossil Trace Golf Club

Ranked One of Denver's Best Golf Courses

Fossil Trace Golf Club opened July 2003 in the historic city of Golden, Colorado, nestled adjacent to the foothills of the Rocky Mountain Front Range, just 20 minutes west from downtown Denver. Fossil Trace is considered one of Denver’s top golf courses and premier destinations to play. Golfers can experience a mountain course feel in an urban setting.

Imagine a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Colorado’s dry, arid climate was a thing of the future and a humid, tropical climate existed with lakes, swamps and palm trees. The course opened approximately 64-million years after the first dinosaurs walked where Holes 11-15 now sit. As you navigate the course and its rolling topography; large, undulating fairways and greens are matched with treacherous greenside and fairway bunkers. These features create a modern test of golf in a truly inspirational location. The shadows of the foothills and majestic Table Mountain guide players through the variety of character-laden holes.

Triceratops footprints, as well as other prehistoric creatures’ fossils can be viewed adjacent to the golf course’s 12th green. The palm leaf featured in our course logo can be viewed in the form of a prehistoric trace fossil adjacent to the 12th green.

Each piece serves as a reminder of the rich history of the property and adds to the award-winning golf experience. You will find it hard to leave without taking a memory with you forever.

In its short history, the golf course has enjoyed tremendous success and is considered one the finest golf courses and golf experiences available in Denver and all of Colorado.
